Hearing FAQ's

HB 490 will be heard in the Senate Business and Commerce Committee on Tuesday, May 16th at 8:00 am in room E1.016.


The Capitol opens at 7:00 a.m, and registration will open between 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.  Here are a few things for your to be aware of that day: 


  • WEAR BLUE: in order to let the committee members and those in attendance easily see our supporters, we are asking that everyone wear blue.
  • BEFORE YOU GO: Create a profile here. Make sure that you have the following information that will be required when you register:
    • The bill number: HB 490.
    • The committee where the bill is being heard: SENATE BUSINESS AND COMMERCE.
    • The time and location of the hearing: 5/16/17 @ 8:00 a.m. in E1.016.
  • PARKING: free two-hour parking is available in the Capitol's visitor's parking garage, located at 13th and San Jacinto. Metered street parking is also available around the Capitol.
  • REGISTER YOUR SUPPORT: Stop by the kiosks located in Capitol Extension levels 1 and 2 to register your support. You may also register for the bill from a mobile device, as long as you are connected to the Capitol wi-fi network. Registration closes after the bill has been heard in committee.
  • THERE IS NO NEED TO TESTIFY: As we are nearing the end of the session, there is a large number of bills expected to be heard on Tuesday. Out of respect for the committee members' time, we have been asked to forgo the opportunity to testify.
  • PARKING: free two-hour parking is available in the Capitol's visitor's parking garage, located at 13th and San Jacinto. Metered street parking is also available around the Capitol.
